Random Laugh: Were We This Bad Back in the Day? LOL!
It's a beautiful thing to meet good people on the street and share a handshake...except in Chicago (watch your hand gestures in that city!) I don't know--these cats take it just a little TOOOOOO FAAAAAAAAAAR! LOL!
Funny! Thanks for the laugh! I was reading another blog, and the host requested that "when you drop by, at least say hi." So, hi; just dropping by! Blessings
Okay Dave! Callin' me out! I really feel like part of the fam already! LOL! Have to give us more hints than that, and I'm going to be looking for some help! :-)
Ok. This group's first album was out the same year as De La Soul's Three Feet High and Rising, and they later collaborated with A Tribe Called Quest, and are sort of considered part of that "scene."
I was listening to this CD a few times last week after blowing off some of the dust. I forgot how foundational that statement was for me, in my thinking.
Dangggg, Dave u took a sistah BACK on that one! The Brothers...the jungle! I LOVED them...didn't always know what was being said - but I sure did get my boogie ON. LOL!
speaking of voices that I MISS, Ced - I wish Heavy D & MC LYTE would come back & show these young'uns how it's DONE!
Dave can be my dj anytime, y'all! Anyone remember a group named Stetsasonic aka the original hip hop band?
Some people/Don't like the way that/Sal-ly walks
That was my JOINT!
Cap, JB's were one of the few groups back in the day who did a house music jawn that I LIKED! Until I stepped through Chicago, I hated house music! Now, I miss the Booloo Master (sic)radio sessions. Oh yeah, Cap, FYI: MC LYTE HAS A NEW PROJECT DROPPING THIS YEAR! You can hear a new joint produced by DJ Premier named "Golden Years" on Youtube. HOT!
Anali: Thanks for blessing my page. Glad you could devote the time.
Jacqueline: I'm glad you feel a comfort zone here!
Rich: THAT'S WHY YOU MY DAWG, PLAYA! Tribe is still my favorite group--even if Tip changed his name and Phife just dropped off the face of the earth!
Ced - how can U really pick ONE favorite group??? who u think u kidding? LOL! FYI: of COURSE, i remember Stetsasonic AND the dance that went with the song. one, two, three - HIT meh! ROFLMAO!
Cap, Stet is the CREW! They set the bar for a true hip hop band (Sugarhill Gang and the Furious Five don't count--they were backed by hired bands.) The Roots are the best of the current generation at what they do, but I love the old standard more.
Jacgueline, I'm just glad that you hopped in this cool/hot/happy/weird gumbo of thought the way good people should--feet first and smiling!

hahahahaha....the choreographer needs an award just for putting all that together.
that was funny and a great post.
Excellent find, Ced...excellent.
let me go practice my handshakes now.

LOL! Man, you'll be practicing till November!
Thanks for stopping by, Jacqueline! Keep laughing--it lengthens life!
Very creative. LOL.
LOL! And goofy!
"We give each other greetings, instead of saying hi" ...name that tune. ^^
I'll give a hint, its a blast from the past. Released somewhere between '87 and '90.
I watched that three times.

Momentary brain fart--it's RIGHT THERE in the "dude WAKE UP" part of my brain...
I laughed at this one 3 times...LOL...OK, four.
I'm with you, Jacqueline--I need a phone-friend for this one!

can you say, run to the otherside of the street when you see people you know.
That was funny as heck - but why did it look like a mating dance to me? LOL!
uh, Dave - u giving the answer, yet? i give up - was this krs-one? sounds like his stilo...
***Peeking around the corner to see if the answer to Dave's question has arrived*** LOL!
Ladies and gentlemen, it's the incredible, JB's.....!
All are present and accounted for
Take roll call theres a hundred or more
Brothers, sisters that I call my tribe
Livin' a high on a FUNK-E vibe
Step in the stride and all think the same
Play differently but all the same game
I don't eat meat 'cause I'm not that mean
Drink a lot of juice so my insides are clean
Do unto others like they do to us
Stay out the grip of in God we trust
Work by day, ritual by night
The vibe holds the tribe and keeps it real tight
We give each other greetings instead of sayin' hi
And that's the first feelin' when you feel the Tribe Vibes.
DAVE! I wish I hadn't read the rest of the comments before I posted this. I remembered the line early this morning...
Gotta love a hip hop head!
Confession: the Jungle Brothers were my least favorite artists in the Native Tongues crew. De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest are still my favorites.
And I wish Queen Latifah still rhymed...nothing against Dana Owens, the singer...but I miss her voice on a rap track!
Whaddup, Rich!

Dave you never cease to amaze me. You hiding out in the suburbs, but I see you. Do your thang man.
I dug the JB's, but The Tribe, ish, thems still my negroes.
Oh that was toooo funny! I loved the hat switch and back flip especially! ; )
@ Ced
I'd have to say they were my least favorite too, but they had a lot of wisdom about their lyrics.
@ Cap
"Jump up freak a hustle, do what you want but move every muscle"
@ Rich
:)

...they call me that anyway
Dave! Thanks for the answer, man! You started something for sure! LOL! I can come out of hiding now! :-)
Oh and Ced, thank you for the warm welcome! You are a righteous host!
Blessings
