Men...Women...Teach Me.

Musiq happens to be one of my favorite soul singers (one day, I'll post my reasons for avoiding the term "neo soul") AND performs a beautifully written song that intriques me, teachme. The lyrics to this number really struck me as I watched this video a few minutes ago and inspired a question:

Do we teach each other to love, or do we separately outline the do's and don'ts of loving us?

Please...speak on it.

Men, show your courage and "teach" the ladies how things work from your perspective. Ladies, do you. I'll listen and learn...

Love this video, thanx, Bro. Ced! I'm learning to take it one day at a time. That's the best I can do - i've been frightened so much by the dramas around me...u know i'll keep u posted;-).

I'm glad to hear that you're holding your course, lady. I wonder, though, if you'd bless me with an answer to the question... ;-)

Let your loved one be himself (or herself). Don't try to change anyone.

U talking about an answer to this question: Do we teach each other to love, or do we separately outline the do's and don'ts of loving us?

My answer IS the fact that I'm still learning...to love an individual for who he reveals himself to be AND allowing myself to BE loved...

Sweet, you sound a bit TOO MUCH like me on this subject. You know many of my inner struggles where love and trust are concerned from our past (even recent past) conversations. I guess we need to keep prayers rolling for each other.

Love it. As you know on my blog, I am definitely TEACHING My son to LOVE. I pray that he is paying attention :)

Great post! Though I would like to say that I've always been mature enough to teach and be taught to love another, it has been more natural to me to outline the do's and don'ts... In spite of me, God sent a wonderfully patient man who wasn't put off by the baggage, and today, we teach one another. It's a beautiful thing when we get out of our own way! :-)

DC, I'm happy for you!

Jacqueline, it's beautiful to know that people CAN work through their baggage (and hopefully leave it in airline transport limbo!) and move on in a good way. Personally, I'm learning--and I guess I'm teaching, too. As a line from one of my favorite rap songs goes, "it's a slow process...but I ain't got nothin' but time."

Thanks for the warm welcome (though I think that came with the handshakin' video)! Your words are balm to the soul...
Blessings
